A good host knows that drinkware has the potential to take any table from drab to fab. The way the light shines through the drinking glasses, highlighting the delicious liquid contents, only adds to the anticipation of the guest’s drinking pleasure. When a bar is stocked with all the right glassware, you and your guests will feel welcomed, and more at ease with trying new beverages and cocktails. Whether classic or modern, personalized or straight off the shelf, beautiful drinkware should always be invited to your parties.

Barware and glassware sets should always include a few basic pieces. Beer glasses need to hold at least 16 oz, a measurement known as the classic "pint." Styles may vary, so when you are starting out, just pick what appeals to you most. Wine glasses come in a variety of options, as well. Traditional wine glasses always have a stem. The purpose of the stem is to minimize the effect that your body heat has on the temperature of the wine as you hold it. Some people, however, prefer stemless wine glasses, which maintain the classic globe shape but remove the long stem. Double old fashioned glasses, also known as rocks glasses, are a definite necessity in your drinkware stock. Rocks glasses have a smaller capacity than beer glasses, usually 8 to 10 ounces, which gives you just enough room for ice and the correct amount of liquor and mixer.

Personalized barware and glassware is a great option for truly "raising the bar" on your collection. A simple single initial adds personality and sophistication. Drinkware can also be engraved with your family name, which makes a wedding gift for couples who seem to have everything. Engraving and personalization also helps bring diverse glassware sets together for a unified look. Even if the glass has different shape and sizes, a uniform monogram creates the feeling of a complete set.
