Great Holiday Cocktails and Easy Mixed Drinks

Holiday parties are often considered the social event of the year. They can end the year with a bang or be the beginning of a year of ridicule for being the laughing stock of the office party. Either way, alcohol is usually readily available for your enjoyment. We’ve put together a list of delicious and easy holiday mixed drinks to make this year’s holiday party unforgettable.

Egg Nog Mixed Drinks

As a seasonal drink, egg nog is enjoyed by young and old alike. Simply sprinkle with nutmeg to offer a very easy alternative to plain egg nog. Mix it with flavored alcohol, ice cream or whipped cream to create a variety of tasty egg nog drink ideas.

Thick and Creamy Egg Nog

Our first recipe includes a holiday favorite – egg nog. Combine 4 ounces of egg nog with one ounce of Kahlua. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg and serve chilled.

Frosty’s Favorite

In a blender, combine 1 and 1/2 ounces of rum or spiced rum, 3/4 ounce of Creme de Cacao 3 ounces egg nog and 3 cups vanilla ice cream. Top with whipped cream and a few drops of green Creme de Menthe. This drink has the consistency of a milkshake.

Holiday Chocolates

Chocolate is a mainstay of the holiday season. From cookies and candies to mixed drinks, chocolate makes people happy. Consider adding Bailey’s or flavored schnapps to your hot chocolate for added warmth and a quick pick-me-up.

Almond Hot Chocolate

Chocolate almond lovers truly love this almond hot chocolate recipe. Make hot chocolate as directed, minus one ounce of water. Add two ounces butterscotch schnapps and 1/2 ounce amaretto and stir well. Top with whipped cream if desired.

Whipped Chocolate Milk with Bailey’s

Fill a tall glass with ice and pour in 4 ounces of chocolate milk, 2 ounces of cold coffee and 1 ounce of Bailey’s. Top with whipped cream and shaved chocolate and enjoy!

Colors Bright and Vibrant

The holidays come alive with bright and vibrant colors. Brightly colored papers and ribbons decorate gifts under a decorated Christmas tree. Lights, candles and other vibrant decorations cheer up every room of our home and office. It is only fitting that your drink choices add to the decor of the party.

Holiday Punch

In a large punch bowl, combine two 48 ounce cans of pineapple juice, one 40 ounce bottle of cranberry juice, two 750 ml bottles of soda water and 1 liter of strawberry, raspberry or lime sherbet. Add 1 and 1/2 ounces of vodka per serving. Serves 16.

Red Hot Holiday Punch

As the name suggests, this punch is hot, spicy and red! In a large saucepan, combine 3 cups of apple juice, 6 cups of cranberry juice and 3 cups of orange juice. Bring to a near boil and add 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon, 3/4 tsp ground cloves, 3/4 cup maple syrup, 3/4 tsp ground nutmeg and 2 tsp of powdered sugar. Continue to a boil then simmer for 10 minutes. Serve hot with a cinnamon stick. This drink may be kept warm in a crock pot after it has been prepared. Add rum or spiced rum to taste for each serving.

Mint Flavored Holiday Drinks

One of the most popular flavors for the holiday season is mint. Mint flavor is second only to chocolate, and the two are often paired to create incredible flavor combinations. Mint flavored holiday drinks go well with meals as well as desserts and are sure to please. Peppermint Schnapps may be added to many other drinks to create a whole new minty flavor.

Peppermint Delight

Using a shaker filled with ice cubes, shake 1 ounce peppermint Schnapps, 1 ounce Kahlua and 1 ounce Brown Creme de Cacao. Strain into cocktail glasses and serve immediately.

Champagne Mixers

Champagne provides a light, sophisticated feel for any holiday party. These holiday drink recipes should be mixed just before serving to preserve the quality of the champagne.

Holiday Cheer

Combine 1 can of thawed frozen cranberry juice and one bottle of champagne in a decorative glass pitcher. This drink should be mixed immediately before serving to retain bubbles. Use one slice of lime to garnish each glass.

Feeling a Lot like Christmas

Stir 1/3 ounce Vodka and 1/3 ounce Grenadine with ice. Using a sifting cup, pour the mixture into a champagne glass without ice. Top off the glass with champagne.
