Sorry it took me so long to answer. I bought two of these for my grandchildren, that way they both could have one. They run on batteries. My daughter said the girls love them and they light up the pool and have different settings on the light show. My daughter dropped one and broke the seal so I will be ordering another one so that the girls will not be fighting over the one that is remaining. Her pool is approx. 16'x35'. She said it is relly pretty at night with these lights on in the pool. I do not know how long the batteries last. She does not keep them on all night, I know when she has parties they put them on, because the back of her home is all windows looking out to the pool & it makes a pretty backdrop. I bought these a couple of years ago, I think back in 2011.

It is battery operated. It was a gift purchased about a year ago. The lights stay on as long as the batteries are good. I only sent one and it wasn't enough for the pool. I suggest at least two or three for average size pools.

it is ran off of batteries, it will run all night if the batteries are new, i have it in my pool which is 40ft. x 18ft, i use a rescue pole to get them out, or you can use string, or even fishing line
